STUDENT FACILITIES
Library:
The College Library has collection of about
twenty thousand text
books,reference and general books covering a wide range of
subjects.Besides,a large number of useful and valuable
Journals,Magazines and News Papers are subscribed regularly for the
use teachers and students.A computerised management package system
is being started.
Every student is issued a library card against which he/she can
borrow one book at a time. However, Major student will be issued
one additional card against which one book can be borrowed. A
borrower will be responsible for the loss or damage of any book
borrowed from the college library and he/she have to pay the
cost for the damaged book.
Student Welfare Fund:
The college maintains a student welfare
fund to provide financial help to the poor and deserving
student on application from such students subject to the
availability of funds.
Grievance Redressal Cell:
The college has organised a grievance redressal cell to solve the
problems and troubles faced by the student and teachers relating to
academic and physical aspects of the college.
Co-curricular and Extra-curricular
Activities:
In addition to the prescribed course of study the college encourages
and motivates the students to organise and participate effectively
in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as
games and sports, music, drama, fine-arts, literary and cultural
activities, debating, symposium etc. from time to time.

NCC / NSS :
Students can join in NCC/NSS for their personality
development, development of leadership, will force etc. Participants
may join the University, State and National level camps and
competitions. Our cadets have already earned reputation in Naional
levels camps.

Nature Club:
A
nature club has been constituted by the students,teachers and
well-wishers of the college for environmental upgradation of
the neighbouring areas o the college.The club will observe and
monitor the various programmes for the development of the atmosphere
by observe World Environment Day.Eco-Biotic Camps,Rural
Development,etc.
Games and Sports:
The
college provides facilities to the students for games like -cricket,
football, volleyball, badminton, carrom, chess, basketball, handball,and
other field events. Several groups of students have shown proficiency
in various competions.
College Magazine:
The
College Magazine 'ARUN' is the medium for developing literary and
other potentialities of the students.It publishes articles and
creative writing contributed by students and teachers as well as
reviews of the Educational, Cultural, Social and Sports activities of
the college. The magazine is published by a student Editor under
guidance and supervision of an Editorial Board.
Research Journal:
A research journal is published annually by the teaching departments
of Assamese and Economics, respectively where research activities and
papers for faculty development get preference. 'DISPUR' is published
by the Department of Assamese and 'SPECTRUM' by the Department of
Economics.
Alumni Association:
This is an ex-students'
organisation. Students who passed out from
this institution and established themselves in the society and
devoted for the welfare of humanity may contribute for the
development of social institutions.
Study Circle:
Students and teachers have organised a study circle to express their
inherent literary knowledge amongst themselves and published their
articles, writings, in Wall Magazine. Various group discussions,
seminars, talks, competition on various topics are planned
and held from time to time.
Student Support Services:
Apart
from the other Student Support Services, the College Canteen has been
started. The other important Support Service is the Yoga Meditation
Cell which conducts regular classes for the physical and the mental
development of the students and staff, under the supervision of Yoga
therapist Sri Anil Sarma.
Parking Place:
A
space has been developed with sheds to park the vehicles of students
and teachers.
Counselling Centre:
There
is a counselling centre for guiding and assisting the students
individually and collectively for academic career and socio-economic
guidance.NGO's are also involved in guiding the students and
ex-students.
Refreshment Center:
There is a Canteen for the refreshment of the students and teachers
with adequate requirments.
Extension Education:
Educational
programmes are organised by the teachers and students under the
direction of UGC and GU for the socio-economic, socio-cultural and
social health of urban and rural people. Seminar,
Group-discussion, Workshops, etc . are held under this
programme.
Remedial Classes:
Remedial classes have been conducted since 1995-96 for needy and
backward students. From the session 2002-03 it has been extended to
casual students.
Students' Union:
The
Dispur College Union is the general body of the students of the
college.Its membership is compulsory for every student admitted into
the college. The office bearers of the Union are elected annually
through the method of direct voting. The Union endeavours to foster
and promotes fraternity, mutual understanding and a sense of
responsibility among the students. The Students Union organises games
and sports, debates, cultural and social activities among the
students in the College Week organised annually and participate in
inter college activities.
Perusal of Notice Board:
Student
should, in their own interest r.ead every all the notices displayed
on the Notice Board from time to time and be fully aware of the
information displayed thereon.
Welfare Center:
The college has constituted a Welfare Centre to help needy students
and teachers by collecting funds from social organisations, generous
persons. The Centre may extend their welfare schemes in case of
natural calamities,environmental destruction and in social
neccessity.
Scouts and Guides:
Scouts and Guides for college students has been introduced in our
college from the session 2002-2003. The Govt.has trained up a
Professor to be in-charge to conduct Scouts Unit in our college.
News Bulletin:
Dispur College
had publishing a bilingual quarterly
news bulletin from the session2002-03. First issue (volume-I) was
pulished in January,2003. This bulletin reveals the developmental
activities of Dispur College Community specially in the field of
management, academic development, infrastructure, curricular,
co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities.
Drinking Water Facility:
The college has potable water facilities at different
places of the college.
Multygym Facility:
With the aid of Dept.
of youth welfare, Govt. of India, the college has a multigym
facility having 16 stations for the physical fitness of the students
and teachers.
